Winner's Pool Rules

STARTING FOR THE 2014 SEASON

In a 10-player league:

-The season starts with each player ranking the other 9 players in the league from 1-9 (you can't rank yourself). With this we can take the averages and make an initial ranking for each player in the league from 1-10.

-Starting with the lowest ranked player (#10) and continuing to the highest (#1) each player picks a team to win that week of the season.

-Each player can only pick a team once for the entire year (cannot pick any team a second time for the duration of the season).

-If your chosen pick loses you have to pay $10 to the Winner's Pool and they earn Zero points toward your overall score.

-If your chosen pick wins that player earns 1 point that goes toward their overall score (and does not pay into the Winner's Pool).

-Rankings go up and down weekly depending on the success of the player's picks that week. (The losers drop to the bottom and the winners rise to the top of the rankings)

-Picking underdogs to win can be beneficial to a player. For the 2nd, 4th, 6th, etc. time a player successfully picks an underdog to win during a week, that player receives an additional point to their score (making it a total of 2 points for the week).

Possible things to consider:

-A player can make an additional pick to their current one for the week if:

  • That player MUST pay $10 (to the Winner's Pool) before making that pick.
  • The additional pick will be made after the highest ranked player has made their pick for the week.
  • Players can do this up to 3 times during the season.
  • Players cannot use this to pick the opposing team to their original pick (to guarantee a successful pick during the week)
  • The additional pick cannot be a team previously picked by this player but the team chosen (as the additional pick) can be chosen later in the season as an official pick for the week (Additional picks do NOT count like Official Picks which can only be chosen ONCE)
